December 17, 2021 – Estancia and Boarding the Ship

I woke up at 6am to finish packing my big bag so it could be put out by 7am. I got it out at 630 and went to breakfast.
Our bus was the first to leave the hotel at 9am heading for the polo estancia. We arrived at 11am and walked to the polo training field. Ezekiel, who teaches polo, explained how it is played. They then showed how a horse is prepared to play. They put protective material on their legs to avoid injuries if hit by the mallet. Two teams of 3 then played a short game. While watching, we were served empanadas.
At noon, we went and had a BBQ lunch – steak, chicken, and three kinds of sausages. Potatoes and salad were the side dishes. It was more food than any of us could eat.
The estancia was beautiful with an English-looking mansion. The property is used a lot for weddings. Michael Buble was married here.
At 2pm we left to come to our ship. We had to have a covid test to board the ship and we all passed. We are the fourth cruise on this new ship and the first to go to Antarctica. The ship is really beautiful. My cabin is much bigger than I expected.
Again we have been told about the wifi. My photos may not be as good because I will make them smaller so they upload faster.
Tomorrow us the first of 5 days at sea. Lectures all day and we get our jacket.
