Right after breakfast we had a Covid test.
At noon, we were told that 2 passengers had tested positive and were now quarantined in their cabin. Things have changed quickly on the ship. Spa, Gym,and library are closed. In the dining room, every other seat must remain empty. We already were wearing masks and washing hands before each meal.
We made it South Georgia Island around 1pm. The expedition team went in first to make sure it was safe and to set up a trail for us to follow.
My group, the Adelie penguins, went in the 3rd group. The zodiak ride was funl
All over the beach adolescent elephant seals were sleeping. 3 or 4 king penguins were hanging out. A large group of Gentoo penguins were at the water line. One or two fur sales were also on the beach.
I walked to both ends of the beach. On the other side of a large pond I could see many king penguins. After walking the beach I hiked inland to a Gentoo rookery. I had to walk between two large adolescent elephant seals that were growling at each other. It was unnerving but well worth it to see the hundreds of Gentoo penguins.
I returned to the ship at 6pm. Upon entry you have to wash your boots and pick out any rocks or dirt caught in the tread. We each have a locker to keep our boots and other gear in.
Before dinner they had a recap of the day and showed us the schedule for tomorrow. We will be having landings in 2 different spots.

That sounds like a great day!

to get all the way and be quarantined… what a drag… we’ve had two pos cases here, ditto restrictions
