I had been told that Petra was worth going to but nothing prepared me for its beauty. Our hotel was next to the entry gate. We walked down along road until we reached the beginning of the sandstone walls. There were carvings and niches in the sides of the walls. There were many burial sites. We walked to the Treasury which is the most famous building In Petra. We continued to the amphitheater where we had a cup of tea. We were given a choice of taking a golf cart back or staying and hiking more and then walk back to our hotel. If chose the golf cart because my knee was starting to act up. Enjoy the pictures.

Fascinating. Is part of it inside a slot canyon? It must have been a very advanced culture to create all those carvings.

Hi Elsie,
So glad to see your post on Petra. It is so beautiful there and brings back wonderful memories. It also makes us wish we’d done the post trip with you. But we’ll have to settle for seeing the wonderful pictures. I especially enjoyed seeing Helen. She is indeed an inspiration for us all! Enjoy the rest of your trip and let us know when you get back home.

It took me awhile to finally see the camel’s head. Glad you mentioned this is sandstone.
Helen is an amazing traveler.
