We left the Dead Sea at 8:30am. Our first stop was Jerash. This is a huge Greco-Roman city that has been excavated in a town jon the north end of present day Amman. Hadrian’s Gate is where we entered. We walked through the whole complex which included a hippodrome, an area that contained small shops, two temples, and two amphitheaters. At the other end was the actual entry gate called the Philadelphia Gate. This city had been named Philadelphia.
We had lunch and then drove into Amman to the Citadel, an archaeological site in the center of the city. We also went through the museum there.
We arrived at our hotel at 4pm and had our Covid tests done. We got into our rooms. 17 of us are on a 3:25am flight so we’re relaxing in our rooms until midnight. The other 11 get to sleep until 5am before leaving.
I’ll write a recap when I get home but wanted to post today’s pictures now.
