November 2, 2022 – New York City
My cabin is on the starboard side of the ship so I was able to watch sunrise through the buildings in lower Manhattan as we sailed in.
We docked at pier 88 which is on 48th st right next to the Intrepid museum. At 8:30am we boarded buses for a four hour tour of NYC. We had 3 stops on the tour, Rockefeller Center, Battery Park, and the 911 Memorial. Rockefeller Center had a display of Day of the Dead statues that are really nice. At the 911 Memorial we got to walk around both the north and south tower memorials. There wasn’t time to go into the museum through. At Battery Park we had a great view of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
We were back on our ship by 12:30pm for lunch. We had the afternoon off so I went to the Intrepid museum. They have exhibits and different planes everywhere. They also have the space shuttle Enterprise, a submarine, and a Concorde. It was very interesting.
After dinner we had a NY by night tour. Our guide took us to Greenwich Village and Chelsea where he told us all about living in those areas.
Tomorrow November 3rd, we are in NY until noon. The sail away should be beautiful.
