November 4, 2022 – Norfolk and Williamsburg

We arrived at the pier in Norfolk, Virginia at 11:30am. We boarded buses to go to Williamsburg. The ride took one and a half hours due to road construction. Williamsburg is an authentic Colonial village. In many of the buildings they have docents dressed in period clothes who answer questions. Our first stop was the Governors Palace. This was the home of 6 British governors and 2 American Governors. The entry way into the house had an artistic display of swords, rifles, and pistols. Many rooms in the house are painted in bright colors.
Other things we did while in Williamsburg are:
– A conversation with Lafayette
– Watched a Cooper making a barrel
– Watched the blacksmith
– Saw the fife and drum Corp play and March
We left Williamsburg at 5pm and didn’t get to the ship until 7pm just in time for the BBQ dinner. After dinner they had a Frank Sinatra tribute singer.
Tomorrow is a sea day so unless something really exciting happens I won’t blog again until the next day when we are in Wilmington North Carolina.

  1. Glad you had a good day in Williamsburg Tunnel traffic with the construction is so bad that we usually stay on our side of the tunnel in Newport News.
