June 27, 2023 – Stoneridge Creek to Ashland, OR
After breakfast at SRC, Carolyn, Jan, and I headed out in my car to drive to Ashland. We had one rest stop at 11am and then drove until we got to the Costco in Redding. We stopped to get gas. There was an In-Out Burger place just up the street so we enjoyed lunch there. Carolyn took over driving from Redding to Weed. After readjusting the seat mirrors back to my positions, I drove the fInal stretch to Ashland. We arrived at our rented cottage at 3:35pm so we went for coffee until 4pm when we could check in. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. After unpacking, we walked into town. There are many beautiful old houses. It was hot and sunny. We picked up a pizza and brought it back to the cottage. Right now, we are sitting on our front porch having margaritas (Carolyn and Jan) and wine ( me).

For those wondering about Vantage Travel, on June 20th they laid off all their workers. Previously, they canceled all trip through the end of August. The website is still up but the phones go unanswered. I am assuming that my trips in October 2023 and September 2024 are not happening and that the monies I have spent is lost.

In September I will be doing a Viking River Cruise followed by a week in Paris with friends I met on my last trip. In January 2024, I have signed up for an OAT trip to El Salvador and Belize with friends from the VMI group.

  1. Love Ashland. Just drove through the area but didn’t stop this time. Had not heard about Vantage. Wow! They are pretty big. Wonder who is next? Hopefully no one.

  2. I have friends who go to Ashland every year and love it. Your pictures are gorgeous and I know you’ll have a great time! I had not heard about Vantage either. But was concerned after your last post snd then not hearing about your trips. I’ll be curious to know if your insurance covers any of that! Enjoy Ashland!

  3. Have a great time, Elsie! (Wow! I never thought that Vantage was financially in trouble. Come to think of it, I haven’t received any of their constant mailings in a long time. I really hope you can recoup at least some of your money).
