Today we all went to Versailles. We had tickets for a tour starting at 12:55pm. To make sure we made it, we decided we had to leave our apartment by 10am. To get to the RER train was an 18 minute walk. It took us longer since we couldn’t find the RER station for a while. We did find a great view of the back construction of Notre Dame.
We got on a train and instantly knew that it was the wrong train. We got off at the Musee D’Osay stop and had to wait 25 minutes for the correct train. We got to Versailles at noon and found the tour place right next to McDonald’s. As we waited, I got water since I’d left my water bottle at the apartment. Our original guide had a “bicycle incident” and had to be replaced so our tour didn’t start until 1:15pm.
The tour started with the house tour which took 2 hours. By the time we got to the gardens everyone except Oskar was exhausted. He continued on the tour while we rested on the steps. Versailles is huge. We realized, too late, that we should have skipped the house and headed for the Trianon Palaces and Gardens.
After Oskar returned we headed back to the RER station and headed home.

What an ordeal for you! I’m so glad you made it! It seemed much easier when I was there 20 years ago, so I hope you enjoyed it. It was truly amazing to see the Hall of Mirrors!
