February 5, 2024 – Antigua to Peten

We left our hotel at 9am and headed to the studio of a family that create ceramic birds.  Pedro made a hummingbird out of clay while we watched.  They also showed us what it will look like after it is baked and painted.  The business was started by their late father who became famous world wide for his ceramic work. 
We rode into Guatemala City to have lunch before heading to the airport to fly to Flores, Guatemala. At the airport we had to say goodbye to our driver, Giovanni.
After a quick 40 minute flight we landed in Flores.  A bus was waiting to take us to Peten where we walked around, took sunset pictures,  and had dinner.
We drove 20 minutes to our Hotel which is in the middle of the jungle. 
Tomorrow we visit Tikal which was a large Mayan city.
