January 8, 2025 – Huatculco Mexico

Yesterday was a sea day. Steve and I played bridge in the morning. I read my book and then walked around the ship in the afternoon. We had dinner in the Pinnacle Grill. It was very good.
Today we arrived in Huatculco, Mexico. We were docked here from 7am to 12:30pm. It is a beach town with a very small downtown. I walked around, put my foot in the ocean, and went back to the ship by 9am. We saw a man sleeping on the edge of a balcony. ?Too much cerveza?
I found out this morning that my niece, her husband, and son in Altadena were evacuated. They learned today that their house has burned down. I haven’t heard anything but I would think there are some people on this cruise who may have lost their homes. These fires are awful.
The sail away was very nice. We were warned we would be hitting rough seas for a few hours. The dance show planned for tonight was canceled because we were really rocking. We are now on our way to Guatemala.
