May 20, 2025 – Brooklyn, New York

We took the subway to Brooklyn. We walked almost 5 miles including Park Slope area, Brooklyn Heights, Prospect Park and the Promenade. There is a great view of Manhattan from the Promenade. We had lunch at Juniors which is famous for their cheesecake. I had a brisket sandwich. We had family style pickled beets, pickles, French fries, and potato salad to share. The cheesecake was delicious.

After lunch we went to the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The archivist took us through the building and then we got to see the archives. He showed us the original coat from Josephn and the Technicolor Coat.

I’ve included a picture of our group walking. We nice wear yellow baseball caps so we can easily see each other.

We returned to our hotel for an hours rest before walking to dinner. The group is walking across the Brooklyn Bridge tonight but I bought a ticket to see Audra McDonald in Gypsy. The show was very good and Audra McDonald was phenomenal. The energy that she put into playing Mama Rose is indescribable. I highly recommend seeing this show.

Tomorrow, Staten Island in the rain.
