June 16, 2019 – Astoria Oregon
Back in the USA again. Immigration processing started at 8:30am. The US line moved quickly and once through my keycard was punched. This punch allowed me to leave the ship without delay. The non US line was shorter and it seemed to go quickly too.
After packing some rain gear, I set out for town. It is a mile and a half hike or you can pay $6 for all day rides on a bus that has 2 stops other than the pier. First stop is the middle of downtown and the second is the Maritime Museum. I got off downtown and walked through the Sunday Market. It is a combination craft and farmers market. Downtown has many interesting old buildings.
After the market I walked to the Maritime Museum. It is $14 per adult and $12 per senior. It is very good museum. I spent an hour going through it before heading back to the ship. It didn’t rain while I was out but there was what I call thick fog.
Tonight is the last Gala night. Tomorrow is a sea day. I probably won’t do another post until I get home. I hope the people getting on the Maasdam as I get off have enjoyed my blog.
To my friends at SRC, I am hoping to be home on Tuesday by 11am. See you at dinner.
