April 16, 2022 – Home again

I got home at 4pm on April 16th. I was asleep by 8pm.
The family was having an Easter Dinner on Sunday so when I woke up I took a home Covid test. It was positive. I’d suspected that my cold might not be a cold and the test done in Jordan was suspect at best.
I let the few people that I had contact info for know that I had Covid. I have been in isolation in my apartment since. I feel fine except that I have sinus congestion that won’t end.

Besides that Elsie, how was your trip?
I loved everything about this trip. Hotels were excellent. Our guides were personable and knowledgeable. The ruins and artifacts that were over 3000 years old were amazing to see. The pride that the Egyptians and Jordanians have in their history is inspiring.
Best stops of the trip were Abu Simbel and Petra. I am glad I was convinced to add the Jordan post trip. Petra is not to be missed.
I did get tired of having meals starting with mezze plates (hummus, baba ganoush, pita bread, sales …) followed by a heaping plate of chicken or beef with rice. Oh well, that is part of traveling.
What is next? I am taking the summer off and my next trip is October 25th with Vantage Travel again. I’ll be taking the ‘Charting the Eastern Seaboard’ trip that is primarily onboard the Ocean Explorer. This is the ship that I was on in Antarctica. This trip starts in Boston and stops at many cities along the East Coast and ends in Nassau, Bahamas.
I hope you will follow me.

  1. I enjoy following along with your trips, Elsie! I can’t remember who told me about your blog…I’m an OAT traveler so I know it was someone I know from there.

I did the OAT trip to Egypt with the Jordan pretrip in March 2020…we finished Jordan and we’re a very few days into the Egypt trip when we got sent home. I decided that I really needed to see what I’d missed and am going back on October 31 this year…so particularly enjoyed your pics!

I just returned from OAT’s Northern Italy trip. Absolutely loved it. One person did test positive on our next to last day…

Looking forward to reading about more of your adventures!

  3. Enjoyed following you on this trip. Seemed more strenuous than the last two trips. Amazing traveling with Helen (?), the 90 year old. Hope you are feeling better.
